Ben Kimim?
Durağan olmayan gerçekliklerle kendine yabancılaşan günümüz insanı için kimliklerin imajinal olarak tanımlanması dışında bir yol kalmıyor. İster istemez üstlenilen akışkan kimlikler, kimlikleri bulanıklaştırıyor; gizliyor, ulaşılamaz kılıyor ve giderek başkalaştırıyor. Yeni dünya kimlikleri, kendilerinden öte bir yerlerde kurgulanmış hallerinden ibaret. Hep şimdiki zamanda yaşayan, imajinal kimliklere o kadar alışıyoruz ki artık hangisinin gerçek olduğunu biz bile bilemiyor olabiliriz...
Enformasyon sürekli olarak bir gerçeklikten, diğer bir gerçekliğe atlarken, yabancılaşmayı zorunlu kılıyor. “Sahte kendilik” olarak yorumlanan “yabancılaşma”, “irade” kavramının devreye girmesiyle “zorunlu yeni gerçeklikler” in inşasına zemin hazırlıyor. Anlam arayışı da, kişinin gerçek kendiliğinin dışavurumunun arayışı haline dönüşüyor. “Ben kimim?” sorusu da durağan olmayan gerçeklik karşısında “şimdiki zamanı” kabul ederken, sorulabilecek en güçlü sorulardan biri gibi duruyor …
Kendine yabancılaşan imajinal kimlikleri, stereotip yapı üzerine kurdum. İşlerin hepsinde en arka planda, tek bir kadın portresi yer alıyor. Üç boyutlu çalışmada, photoshop ve benzeri görüntü düzenleme programlarında kullandığımız layerlarının (katmanların) gerçeklerini yaptım. Böylelikle kimlikleri, fotoğrafı çektikten sonra yeniden oluşturdum.
Who Am I?
For today’s man, who is self-alienated by non-stationary realities, there is no other way to identify the identities as an image. Unavoidably, the assumed fluid identities blur, hide, make emotions untouchable and increasingly alter the identities. The new world identities are composed of their states that are fictionalized at somewhere far from themselves. We’re so accustomed to imaginal identities which live always in the present, we may not even know which is real anymore…
While the informatics constantly jumps from one reality to another, it necessitates alienation. The “alienation”, interpreted as a “false selfdom”, paves the way for the construction of “mandatory new realities” through the engagement of the concept of “will”. The search for meaning also becomes the search for the expression of one's true selfdom. The question of “Who I am?” also seems to be one of the strongest questions that can be asked when accepting the present in the face of non-stationary reality…
I constructed the self-alienated image identities on stereotyped structure. In all of the works, there is only one portrait of a woman (a portrait of a single woman) in the background. In three-dimensional works, I created the true layers that we use in Photoshop and similar image editing programs. So after I took the picture, I produced new images
